Hey hey.
A piece of flash fiction I wrote called "Would You Look At That" is up at Smalldoggies Magazine. Thanks to Matty Byloos for being a rad dude and loving my work. It's part of the same project as the piece that won the PANK contest. I didn't mean for it to happen that way, but it's moving so that's nice. Anyhow, I'm really happy to have this thing up at Smalldoggies. That magazine rules lotz.

Some Things Going On
I asked some alright questions and Riley Michael Parker of HOUSEFIRE Publishing completely ruled the answers over at Smalldoggies for the Vouched Satellite column. People have seemed to enjoy it and that makes me happy.

Layne and I were featured on Six Questions For... today about Stoked. Also, bonus material for Volume II of Stoked Journal have started and I must say, they're quite fabulous.

The WCWPCCS put out two chapbooks recently and were nice enough to send me some copies. I'd bought their awesome release, The Feeling Is Mutual, awhile back. That book was pure fantastic, collaborative goodness. Though not quite that polished and hard-hitting, the two new ones are quite entertaining and most importantly a cool testament to the power of collaboration.

Exquisite Craps was my favorite of the two. The WCWPCCS gals are so into this writing poems together thing that they've admittedly forgotten who wrote what. That's just great! I'm a big time advocate, fan of, and yearner for collaborations and from my experiences, I know how difficult it can be to get people involved and stick with it, not to mention to produce something that is a solid representation of all involved's skill levels and the strength of the relationship. Whether or not these poems are skyrocket gut punches, it's quite clear these poems are results of meaningful relationships and a fun experience. AND FOR THAT I'M LIKE HELLYEAH.

Really, what's more repetitive than a fence?
Marsh birds stating blankly ahead, standing on one foot.
The eyes of animals we had never seen
Flashed above the brown water.

SOME THINGS I FORGOT TO TELL BLOGWORLD ABOUT
Here are some MEMEMEMEMEME links:
I have three poems in the new issue of Country Music.
I have a poem in the new issue of Mat Black.
I did an author interview for the PANK Blog to go along with my poem in the May issue.
I wrote a single-sentence review of The Book of Freaks by Jamie Iredell and a full review of So You Know It's Me by Brian Oliu over at Vouched.
With the help of a bunch of cool people, I made this summer reading list over at Smalldoggies Magazine.
Also, Shaun Gannon interviewed me for his Human Contact series.

SUMMER TIME READING
For my monthly Vouched Satellite/Smalldoggies Magazine column this time, I asked some people for some summer reading suggestions, and here is what I came up with. YOU'VE GOT A WHOLE LOT OF READING TO DO

OH MY GRACIOUS DON'T TELL ME IT'S ALMOST OVER
How many days are in April? Thirty, I think. That's suck because today is the 29th. What am I gonna blog about? Worry later, knucklehead. I've got two more days of National Poetry Month. A Song on the End of the World by Czeslaw Milosz is a biting, tight little poem that does it's thing and I like that thing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last night was the Poets Picking Poets reading at Be Here Now, and MAN oh MAN it was fantatic. Christopher Newgent was there with his Vouched Books table. People bought some books (like me finally picking up Easter Rabbit by Joseph Young). The crowd was a bunch of palz and professors and wo(a?)nderers. I was so pleased.
Ryan Rader was a sweet MC, his good mix of humor, sentimentality, and business.
Layne Ransom opened up the readings with her loudproud goodness and poem where God has a Facebook. That's nice.
Mark Neely brought his calm goodness, not to mention this amazing poem about kicking rats and SO MUCH MORE. He also read Elysia's poem titled "Dominatrix," which begins "I want to force feed you a pigeon." LOLZ.
Elysia Smith has a reading style, this shouting girl kinda thing that I'm digging a lot. She also read a Hoagland poem which made me smile lotz.
Zach Arnett showed the community what he's been hiding. This nice dude has more good words in there, I KNOW IT.
I got to read to my parents and that makes me SO happy.
Christopher Newgent rules mucho, I mean much, I mean so much. Him and his stage presence. Him and his lit presence.
Todd McKinney has one of my favorite reading voices EVER. Get to see him read again Saturday and that'll be nice.
Patrick Collier read his martini haikus and some other haikus and some more martini haikus and a couple of my "On" poems and that was funny and brilliant and humbling. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO END THE NIGHT.
Really, I can't thank everyone, the readers, the listeners, the bar folks, enough for being so welcoming and friendly and patient. A great boom to end this undergraduate career.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a new Smalldoggies post up for the Vouched Satellite, an interview with Micah Ling of Book Punch Reviews.

JOHN FREAKING BERRYMAN + Smalldoggies Magazine + BEARDZ

John Berryman's Dream Songs were at this dusty little bookstore in Colorado.
John Berryman's Dream Songs quickly found their way into my hands.
John Berryman's Dream Songs enraptured me for two weeks because IT WAS GREAT and IT WAS CONFUSING.
John Berryman's Dream Songs tuckered me out and were set aside around number 280.
John Berryman's Dream Songs snuck into my American Lit class.
John Berryman's Dream Songs should be in every American Lit/Poetry class ever.
John Berryman's Dream Songs make more "sense" now, I guess.
John Berryman's Dream Songs, more importantly, were picked back up by me yesterday.
John Berryman's Dream Songs were finished by me yesterday.
John Berryman's Dream Songs still make my head hurt, but OH YEAH THE PAIN IS GOOD.
Find more about my thoughts on The Dream Songs here.

It's probably no secret that I think Smalldoggies Magazine is one of the hot things around the web right now. I mean, COME ON, I do contribute to a column there and yesterday, a group of my "On Poems" went up there. IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH TO BE WICKED COOL I DON'T KNOW WHAT. That's a joke.
Smalldoggies Magazine main dude Matty Byloos keeps it real. There is a beautiful word buffet waiting FOR FREE. So much developing there and so much gonna happen. I'm so stoked to be a part of it (EVEN A TINY PART).
The Vouched/me/Smalldoggies connection came about after I posted this Vouch of Smalldoggies.
Since then, there has been a ton of cool stuff at Smalldoggies, like poems by J.A. Tyler and Adam Robinson, these interviews with old students by Mickey Hess and a bunch of cool reviews.
My favorite thing is probably this sweet interview with my bud Mel Bosworth. Full of knowledge and heart and cool.
CHECK OUT SMALLDOGGIES MAGAZINE BEFORE IT CHECKS YOU OUT

Professorpal Todd is growing a beard. He is blogging about it. He featured me and my beard on the blog today (ALONG WITH PETER FREAKING DAVIS). NICE.

Good People Doing Good Things
On the 15th of every month, The Collagist releases a new issue, and I'm always whoop-whoop to see it come out. One, it is a killer journal. Two, I get to interview the poets, so it's like "What is Matthew Olzmann gonna give me this month?" This month is yet another stellar addition to the Collagist archives. Check out sweet poems by Keith Montesano (Read this one aloud), Justin Bigos (IMAGES IMAGES), Bruce Cohen (WOAH AWARD for those opening lines), and Jenny George (every line is heavy, man). Also, another monthly WOAH AWARD goes to Mike Young for best title for his short story, "What the Fuck is an Electrolyte?" Also, super cool double review by Jeremy Benson of Matt Hart's Wolf Face and Nate Pritts' Big Bright Sun. Both these books are high on my to-read list, so I'm stoked to see them getting some love here. READ THIS ISSUE PLEASE.
Vouched Keeps Doing GOOD STUFF. Like adding contributors. Two online literary machines in Roxane Gay and Amber Sparks joined the party. Also, my good friend Ashley Ford joined up a little while back and has been bringing a cool perspective ever since. SELF PLUG AWARE: Don't forget my Vouches.
AGAIN?: Also, I have a new column up at Smalldoggies, an interview with Ryan Ridge. Self Plug Redemption: Be on the lookout for Christopher's next Vouched Satellite Post at SD. Also, I found this cool column at Smalldoggies the other day. Also also, I really loved this poetry suite with J.A. Tyler. More like Poetry Sweet.
Well, back to being on Christmas Break.
